Standing together to protect birds forever

It has been a terrible summer for millions of Australian birds and the natural places that are their homes.

Many species have lost half their habitat to the devastating bushfires, increasing the number of threatened bird species by as much as 25%.

Protecting remaining natural places is more important than ever.

But Australia’s weak nature laws mean decision makers can still approve logging, mining, construction and other damaging activities that harm our wildlife and their homes.

Birds like the critically endangered Swift Parrot could have critical areas of nesting habitat opened up for logging as early as May if the Tasmanian Parliament agrees.

This year is a crucial moment for nature. Australian politicians  have the opportunity to  fix some of the worst problems in our key nature laws as the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation (EPBC) Act is reviewed.

Meanwhile at a global level, leaders will attend the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) meeting to develop new international agreements to govern how we protect nature.

We need you to stand up for nature. Pledge your voice to stand together to stop extinctions and we will update you when there are critical actions you can take to protect birds and their homes forever.
